The Buffalo Zen Dharma Community (BZDC) offers weekly meetings where people can engage and deepen their Zen meditation practice and broaden their understanding of the Buddha's teachings through recorded talks from the teachers of the Mountains and River Order of Zen Buddhism.
Newcomers are welcome on the first Tuesday of every month, when they will receive an orientation to the group and an introduction to zazen. Monthly, BZDC offers half-day zazen intensives on a Saturday morning. Annually, BZDC hosts a weekend sesshin (silent meditation intensive) and an all-day sitting intensive called Zazenkai, led by an MRO teacher or senior student. These retreats include a modified version of the traditional monastery meal practice of Oryoki, and offer members the opportunity to practice liturgical service positions.
